Does registering my corporate name with the state or county provide trademark protection?
No, this merely notifies the state of your corporate name, which is allowed unless it is exactly similar to another corporation. For example, if two companies that produce similar products were named "Tornado, Inc." and "Cyclone, Inc.," these corporate names would both be registered by the state, but would be deemed confusingly similar by the USPTO.
